People keep asking me how law school is going. See the title. That's how it's going. That's not to say it's bad. That is just to say it's exhausting. Honestly I have never felt more in tune to Loverboy's Working for the Weekend song than now. And the sad part is I'm completely satisfied at this point to break it up into baby steps. I work so hard to make it to Wednesday THEN I'm working for the weekend. That's my summary of Law School so far.
Oh, but let's not forget briefs. That's the other half. Exhaustion and Briefs. Want to know what I"m doing 25% of the time? Writing a brief. Yep. Or at least preparing to write one (which is not reading, it's re-reading what I've just read and organizing what I've read).
Now I need to clarify myself. I am not complaining. I am merely answering the commonly asked question of late.
Two weeks ago I would have thought it absurd that I'd actually be able to fall asleep at 9:30 at night. For the last six months I haven't been able to fall asleep before eleven. It just hasn't happened. I wasn't tired. Now I'm lucky to make it to eleven (actually unlucky because I feel it when I wake up in the morning for class). It has become normal for me now to be in bed by ten-thirty. Tonight we had a 'Law Buddy Social' (more on that at a later time) and I was tired before I even left the house for it. I stayed the polite one hour that I figured I'd need to stay and then I high-tailed it out of there and got home. Who goes out drinking on Thursday night when they have 8am class the next day?! I mean, sure stay in and have drinks all you want, Tuesday night called for two glasses of wine...but somehow drinking at home seems much more acceptable to me than being out at a bar really late when you have class the next day. (Does that sound a little alcoholic? Hm....)
Okay. My bedtime is fast approaching. More tomorrow when the weekend is truly here! God Bless Fridays.
