Kitty Love and Ragweed Hate

No swollen eyes today. I did have a sinus headache so bad I could barely move my head. I thought it was a migraine at first, but quickly realized laying down just made it worse. And my neck locked up the more I tried. Thankfully meds kicked in and I'm doing better. I see some severe nasal flushing and more meds in my future tonight. And once I regained movement in my neck I went about making my kitties a little happier. My baby kitty, Taz, seems a little ADD. He gets bored easily and so I've been working on changing toys around. I cut up ribbon and hung it from the decorative supports under the island counter. I dug out catnip toes and threw them around the apartment. I got out the vaccuum, cleaned the cat tower and then sprinkled cat nap all over it. They seem very happy.

I also got a catalogue in the mail today. Pottery Barn. I love looking through the holiday Pottery Barn but this year it makes me a little sad. All the Christmas-y decorations are making me wonder what I'm going to do this Christmas, where I'm going to be. They also had a turkey plate which reminded me of my family's tradition of serving up the turkey on a completely ridiculous turkey platter. It's a little bitter sweet. I always love decorating for the holidays with my mom. She comes up with the best table decorations and makes it look effortless. At the Christmas Party every year the table looks like something out of Pottery Barn, but with a funky twist that is completely my mother.

I also love wrapping presents with my mom. We sit down in the media room and watch shows and have wrapping supplies all over the place. When I was little my cat at the time loved to 'help' us. He also really enjoyed the finished product. There's apparently something enticing about wrapped boxes. But when we were actually wrapping my cat would sprawl out on the paper as we spread it out. Tazzy does the same now.

But it's not even Halloween yet! Which is good. My first final of the quarter is the day before Halloween. So there's no rushing that. But the stores and the magazines all are screaming holiday season and it's both exciting and sobering.

But for tonight I just need to worry about making people think I'm an 80 year old woman. I've got my icy hot for my neck and back, vicks for my nose, Netti-pot for pre-bed rinse and NyQuil. Yep. Kinda pathetic. But I'm determined to sleep through the night tonight!
