I finished my last final of the quarter yesterday and today I packed up the essentials and headed back to Austin for three months. I am very very excited to be back in Austin. While I love my apartment in Waco, and Waco itself is growing on me (as I've found my own hidden treasures), I'm excited to be back in Austin, in my house and not studying. I plan on hitting the bookstore either tomorrow or Monday and getting some books! Real honest to god books. Not textbooks!
Taz has been having behavioral problems lately and I was looking forward to seeing what he did when we got home. He'd only lived in this house for a few months before we moved, so I wasn't sure what he'd think. The other two cats knew where they were, and maybe Taz did too. But as soon as the back door opened he ran out and I've never seen a cat so in his element. The grass is tall and he ran through it like he was the ultimate savanna cat. He's seemed rather hyper lately, and I've been worried because he just seems to want outside all the time. Living in an apartment downtown makes outdoor play time difficult. When we took Monty and Taz out a few weekends ago (on kitty harnesses with leases) Taz tried to run around, but the leash was too short. With the backyard he was able to run as much as he wanted. He did laps around the yard until he finally found a place he liked and he slumped down to enjoy some grass.
I'm hoping we can wear him out and maybe some of his behavioral problems will dissipate this summer. Maybe he's just still too much of a kitten to handle being cooped up.
Anyways, it's late. Even little Tazzie is curled up trying to sleep. I guess I should do the same. I am so glad I made it to summer. This is a much needed break.
