Sunshine and White Skin

Yesterday was a beautiful kiss of spring in February. The sun felt warm on my skin and as long as the wind controlled itself, there was only a hint of a chill in the air. I rolled up my jeans to expose my very pasty white legs to the often demonized sun. I then sat at the base of my parents' driveway and with my sunglasses on and eyes closed tilted my head up to the sky. I sat for a delightful ten minutes this way. I felt my skin heat and I pushed away thoughts of skin disease and reminded myself Vitamin-D comes from the sun. I let myself forget about everything and just breath in the sweet Texas air. I was at peace. I could hear the bees in the prematurely flowering shrubs and the shuffle of the birds in the bare branches nearby. It was a treat nestled in Texas Winter.
