Uncomfortable Topic

Oh goodness, the amount of tension in Constitutional Law class as we got to the Roe v. Wade case. And let me just tell you, there was no second guessing which side the professor came down on and which side the person who was assigned to present on it came down on. The three following abortion cases were equally as tense as we had to keep going back to Roe v. Wade for precedent.

I found myself rising to the bait and chomping. It's weird how there are certain issues in law that instantly separate people, and this is one of them. As much as I fought it, I found myself giving way and standing in my own corner. And here's the killer part of these issues: people try so hard to remain level headed and actually approach the subjects in a logical fashion, and it never fails that each side crumbles. I found myself losing the rational argument and going for sucker punches and tearing at the other side, not the other side's argument. This is not to say I was vocal in class today. I was not. But you could see on every person's face their inner discussions.

The tension in that room was nearly unbearable. Everyone had an opinion and everyone was itchy and squirming as the discussion unfolded. The room had not been this tense when sodomy laws were being discussed. I can honestly say today was the most uncomfortable and awkward class. I'm looking forward to the topic being over.
