I'm a Texan. Better yet, I'm from Austin. We don't really have COLD weather. It's supposed to be 16 on Friday. It's already been a cold week, but knowing it's going to be colder, I just want to take the week off and sleep. I think as an Austinite I should be able to hibernate when it's 16 degrees outside. I mean, I'll get outside with the best of them when it's 110, but 16!!
Today was a struggle. I woke up tired. Waking up to cold weather when you're snuggled in bed with three pets just makes you want to throw the alarm clock against the wall and snuggle back down. I managed to get up but I ended up taking a 30 minute power nap between two classes. By the end of the day, despite the nap and a 10 hour sleep night (I'd thought getting extra sleep might help avoid the very situation I found myself in today), my eyes were burning, actually burning! They itched and begged me to just close them for a full minute. This is when I decided that hibernation might be the answer. Clearly I am not suited for cold weather. It's great one day out of the week. Then I get to dig out my cute coats and shoes and pretend I live up north. But really, all that cuteness is gone after the third day. Then I just feel weighed down by the layers. The inside of my nose hurts from the heater/cold change (you know, coming and going from inside and outside). I'm tired of packing on the clothes and then shedding them in one class, only to realize in another classroom I want my sweater, but not my coat.
Please! Can I just hibernate?
